Got an EM from a Mississippi tug skipper (ex Bama football). Described the river conditions as "pig in a python".

When I lived in west Tennessee, saw lots of Mississippi river flooding. From what they're talking about here, I've never seen anything like it is now.

No, this is epic.  The creeks all along the river are backed up, because the river level is too high for them to drain.  Even parts of I-40 are under water.  This is nasty flooding.

Yeah, I heard that a great deal of I-40 between Memphis and LR is under water.

I'm wasting daylight, see yall later,

Daylight?  There is faint light to the east here.  I need to move farther east.

Would you not then be burning daylight to catch daylight?  Thinking

Well, I meant move my domicile.  But yes, you're right.

I know you're chomping at the bit to be on your island, especially with all the weather you've encountered. Don't forget us peons back here. Take lots of pics. (Don't forget the Italian girls)  Grin

I'll have a good camera.  But the web connection is dailup, so I'll probably have to post them after I return.  But I will try.  Hopefully I can get on and say hello once in a while.

When I was there in December I lost connection about every 2 minutes, so by the time I logged in and got to the TS site, I'd lose it again.  Maybe it'll be better this time.

I said dialup, but it's a modem and a satellite via Belize Telecommunications Systems.  That's all that will work there without MAJOR expense (your own dish).

The Italians are long gone by now, but it's an island with a babe magnet (it seems).  Something always shows up.  Kevin Costner was there back in the 90s, and Bill Gates showed up about 3 years ago.

Last I heard it was just the west-bound half.  But traffic was backed all the way to Memphis.  News interviews with the truckers had more bleeped words than substance.  Shocked

Major, major truck route. It's got to be crippling.

They have a detour, but it's apparently waaaaaay off the usual route.

See the red detour?

It would have to be. There is no other highway close to there if I remember correctly.

So CAT, if you want to borrow my hat for Derby, feel free. Try not to let heavy women sit on it.

You threw me for a minute.  You must be reading back a few pages.
Glad you mentioned it.  I'll pull out my Panama hat (bought in Ecuador).  So I won't need yours this year.  And I won't sit next to fat women if I remove my hat, or let them sit on my head if I'm wearing it.

I made the mistake of googling "fat lady sits on hat".  Most pics were so gross I scrolled down.  Found this gem.

I always liked to pair a frontrunner (horse ) with a longshot as a bet. Generally try to find a horse that has recently moved up in class as my longshot.

Post me your picks, and I'll try them at the party.  Hopefully we get to pick our horses.  Last one of these parties I attended, they picked names from a hat - YUCK.  PC.

I mean two favorites with a longshot in a three dog/horse box. I'm out, too.  Applause E-Cred to you, ss, 2, and jamos.
