Did you see where X said he was fat up above?

This thread needs a workout program.
Pasty portly white guy--I thought it was cb? Huh?

It's in the armstrong thread, CB is heavy too he says.  I had a hard time not making a rapture joke about CB being left behind.  Embarrassed

The morning news just reminded me of another group of people I cant stand... The umbrella carriers.  20% chance of rain today, "grab your umbrella".

Reminds me that in NYC the restaurants all have umbrella stands by the front door. You can help yourself to a free umbrella (some nicer than others) on the way out if it is raining. Yankees are nice!

What is the name of the boarding house in P'cola that has a "family style" dining room restaurant? Is it still open? Great food. If I was to run away from home...

Hopkins boarding house. Supposed to have the best fried chicken ever. I've never eaten there, but I have had their fried chicken at McGuire's. They use Hopkins recipe. It's very good. Can't say it's the best I ever had, though.

Here is an article about the place. It is no longer an active restaurant, but they do serve lunch with the tour.

Oh man! Treat yourself today. Crowded. Fried chicken, bowls of mashed potatoes, ears of sweet corn, fried okra and pickles, hard rolls, green beans. Oh man! Sweet tea on the porch. Oh man!

You know, every time a pacle "franchises" itself the new locations are never the same as the original. Oh man!

Dump the diet. Oh man!

I hate it's no longer a restaurant. Pensacola is death to restaurants. There have been some good ones that, for whatever reason, couldn't make it go for more than 2-3 years. Good restaurants that have closed since I moved here in '97:

Damon's
Copeland's
Zea's
Granny Cantrell's Whistle Stop
Skopelo's (This one was here for a long time)

Not sure if we have discussed this but my favorite fish is LING-- or Lemon Fish in Louisiana or Cobia (scientific name?). Seems I remember it only migrated into Gulf Coast waters a couple times a year. Juicy, tender, flavorful steaks. Oh man again!

I love all seafood except for mussels. Too gamey tasting.
