yeah, sorry about that, I appreciate the setup, I just had nothing so I googled and went with the whole list.

I enjoyed it.

It was hot. Did you hit the pool?

No, by the time I got home I was just ready for a shower.
I like tucking a wet rag on the inside (rear) of my hardhat. Kind of a arab/desert look but it works, a little. Or wrapping a wet rag around my neck. In winter, if you get cold "you ain't workin' hard enough". In the summer there is not much you can do about it. BTW, I learned a trick I've used for decades. I got it from some old guys in South Louisiana. I always wear long sleeve sweatshirts. They get soaked in sweat and keep you cooler than if the sweat just runs off.

yes, long sleeves is definitely cooler. Thats a good trick.

The last time I worked in Dallas/Ft. Worth in the summer it was brutal hot. 100-110 every day. 125-135 in truck when you first climbed in. Not a cloud in sight for 6 weeks. The 110' house trailer I lived in on location had central air and a couple extra window units. But by noon each day it was miserable hot inside. We always have 6-8 laptops going, which adds to the heat. God forbid you need to cook or run the dryer. The doorknob would get so hot you had to use a rag to not burn your hand. Anyway, I had a 8' aluminum tool box outside. One day I cleaned off a spot and cooked pancakes on it. I filmed it with my phone, but is now lost. I've gotten too old, and living in the mountains has made me a baby about it. Never again if I can help it.

I've often wondered why tasks such as yours (projects) cannot be done from 10pm-8am in the hottest periods of the year.

Night work is hard to pull off, safety concerns and then the office staff and their normal lives.  Best I have ever gotten was being allowed to work until 11pm.

I put up a tent and the guys get about 15 minute break per hole.  It's a workable situation.

I get a LOL when I hear stay at home moms or welfare walmarkers talking about the need to stay hydrated. But for you guys this is essential to avoid heat stroke. The industrial size (5'x5') bug blowers (box fans that serve a dual purpose at night) are nice, but you almost never see them used.

The problem is we move so much.  So if we're not staying somewhere we dont set up.  But I am thinking we can modify that by placing me in a more central location and I will walk to the hole.  We did it yesterday with great success.  6 holes and we were done by 3 and then pretended to work until 5.

Shift differential pay is another argument against having a nighttime workday. But I'll bet the extra productivity received from working in cooler temps would offset the increased wages.

Certain projects that run independent of other company activities would be prime candidates for working nights. But if you have supervisors supervising, safety men, a stockroom guy for supplies, a gas pump guy for fuel, etc. then these obstacles would have to be weighed against the benefit, --definitely not a blanket fix but even so, it is not used as much as it could be utilized, a couple of months a year. Noise ordinances would be another concern in a lot of situations.

SHHHHH! Clock milking. lol. I am a big fan of piecework. Pay a guy for what he actually produces and not by the hour/ salary, and you'll have a whole different worker the next morning.

Yeah, people do better with daily achievable goals, but this isn't my baby.  We were done with the area and it was too late in the afternoon to move.  6 is very good production and equals more than a days pay for the boss man so I had no problem letting the guys kick their feet up under the tent and tell war stories.

New commercial-- "The Perfect Meatloaf" pan. This could be huge. I thought I was eating perfect meatloaf all long. Turns out I was wrong Sad. My wallet is upstairs or I'd be ordering one for everybody. LOL all you want, but when poor ol' BAMAWV is eating perfect meatloaf, and you are chasing crumbles around your greasy plate, don't come crying to me.
