I understand that BHO has decided to release Strategic Petroleum Reserve crude. Chech and I discussed this a few months ago and decided (bipartisan support) that this was used only for crisis or emergency purposes. Since Carter, presidents have resisted the urge.

Now why, since the oil price is falling, would BHO take this extreme measure? Well poor ol' BAMAWV will happily explain:

You see, when the price was on the rise and experts were venturing that maybe $5 gas was around the corner, the risk was too great. He didn't want to risk national security?(that's hilarious). No, it would be embarrassing to release/sell our nat'l stockpile of crude oil, only to have pump prices still rise.  If it didn't make immediate "at the pump" impact it could have been used against him in the upcoming election. But that was when we needed to send a message to speculators and increase supply to offset demand.

But now, with the crude price falling, an influx of SPR crude will appear to be the difference maker, whether it actually speeds up the already falling prices or not. Forget that this supply of crude was put aside for the purpose of protecting our country from say, a Middle East embargo on the U.S. or some other supply curtailment.  Forget that a month or two ago we could have gotten an extra $10 bucks a barrel out of the same oil, for reducing the deficit. What is important is for BHO to be able to campaign on, "We solved the high gas crisis"-- even though you and I both know the price has been falling steadily for a week or two now. Bottom line is we are weakening our nat'l defense for the purpose of helping BHO get reelected. He can use the proceeds like he did with the stimulus money,--as a slush fund to bribe/motivate democrat constituencies to vote.

BHO is hijacking a free market for the purpose stated above, and other underlying reasons as well I am sure.  When I heard about this this morning I was baffled myself at the decision.  Did they really blame libya?  Anyone here know where we import most of oil from?  Canada.  Look it up, pretty sure mexico is #2.

Interruption of the Libyan supply on the world oil market drives price.  But it does not directly affect our supply here in the U.S.. These people (BHO) have never done anything that isn't somehow politically beneficial.  Spending the money they'll get from the sale of crude will give his slush fund a windfall, to be used for "union ready" projects. Then his republican successor will have to buy crude to restock the reserves and the dems will all complain about how much money he wasted on his oil buddies.

The BHO clan are talking about raising taxes and health insurance again. Rep's walked out of a Biden lead meeting today until raising taxes is taken off the table.

Look around the country at the states with the highest tax rates,-- you'll also find high unemployment and democrats.

I'm ready for the weekend. It's rained all afternoon here so I am just playing on the computer. I like to get my yard work done on Friday but it will have to wait.
