I'm behind in yard work, but can't do it today.  Soon after I trimmed limbs over the driveway and blew the drive clean on Saturday, a storm hit and covered the driveway with leaves and pine needles.  It rained again yesterday, so I didn't clean it yet.  Sigh.  Plus, the yard needs mowing.  Need your talents, Smitty.

Actually, my trees are still down in the back and side yards.  I'm awaiting cooler weather.  We got an estimate for cleanup of them: $3000.  I stood there looking at the guy, then said, "You can leave now."

For $3000 I should have them stood back up and brought back to life.

Yeah, they were talking about it weakening in those mountains, but coming out the other side and strengthening. If it hits South Fl., it should be minimal. Hope that's the case.

Yep, best scenario would be the mountains eat it.  That's only about a 20% possibility, but I'm being optimistic.  It's hammering PR now.  See image: Click here for link

Irene May Strike Southeast US as a Major Hurricane

"A track to the Carolina coast would give Irene time to...become an even greater danger to lives and property at landfall."

Irene remains destined to strike the southeastern United States later this week as a major hurricane.

Residents from Florida's east coast to North Carolina are urged to begin preparations today.


This kind of reminds me of the track Hurricane Hugo traveled in the late 1980s. That was a terrible storm.

Pray that it weakens.

I'm thinking the cold front will push it out to sea if it survives Hispaniola.  Don't plan to vacation in Bermuda.  No need to panic or pray yet.  Too early.  Just prepare.
