There are some large storms in the gulf. We need the ran up here. People throwing out cigarettes are causing fires in the grass on the roads and interstates.

According to WV cigarettes do not start grass fires along the interstate. I was in Oklahoma a few weeks ago and the temps hit 115 and it was very dry. Along the interstate there had been a small grass fire every few miles. I made a comment similar to yours about how bad they need rain and the fires. We bated what caused the fires and he was certain it was not cigarettes. HTH

There are burnt patches of grass on I-459 and I-59. There are also woods fires every where. Large woods fire in Idler Alabama.
Indeed, cigarettes can start grass fires.  I saw a demonstration at Fire Academy in Tuscaloosa.  Plus, the highways in California are lined with signs about it.

I'd almost forgotten about the ESPN/Feldman fiasco.  I hope he sticks it to them.

Laptops were not around in the 1970s.

HP and TI had some laptop sized calculators.

Computers, laptops, new college?
I'm talking about training at Fire Academy as a fireman.  No, there were no computers then.  Huh?

Fox weather just showed where we are to receive 8-12 inches of rain over the weekend due to the disturbance in the gulf that's expected to become at least a tropical depression.  Sad

Try the Weather Channel.

Tuscaloosa 98 and 10% rain chance.

Here:
"...This system has a high
chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours
as it moves slowly northwestward. Interests along the entire
northern Gulf of Mexico coast should monitor the progress of
this disturbance."

TWC says the same thing. It's going to squat in the gulf for days.
