I cut down a bunch more trees (I love my Stihl) and burned them.  A lot more fun than it sounds.  I can barely lift my arm.

Reminds me of that old joke about the Aub learning to be a logger (know it?).

The lad reports back after a day of tree cutting, and the boss asks how many trees he cut down.
"Two".
"Only 2?  Why so few?  You seem plenty strong."
"I worked hard, but the saw took a lot of work."
Boss takes lad's chainsaw, examines it, then pulls the cord and ("Brrrrrrrrrawwwww") it comes to life.
"WOW", exclaims the lad, stepping back, "WHAT'S THAT SOUND?"

What do these run?  Nice looking knife.

Whittlers are cool.  The whittler is a pattern of pen knife which has three blades, the master blade bearing on two springs (from Wiki, for speed of reply).

They are several sizes, usually have jigged-bone handles (or stag), and price varies with condition.  The ones I sold were Case XX (1950's), and had been carried (used).  I sold 2 of them to a guy for $450.  Had they been mint, one could have fetched $500.

See it better here.  The knife has 2 backsprings.  Each of the small blades pivots against its own spring.  The large blade is thick, so it pivots on both springs.  In the best whittlers, the springs are split; at the single-blade end it is thick, and the other end it forms 2 springs.

I've pulled another all nighter updating the site.  I think I am going to turn in pretty soon and at least get a couple of hours sleep.

You have done a great job here.  Hard to realize that it's been only a couple of weeks since this started.

Everyone bright eyed this morning?

Good morning.  Woke up at 3:30, which would be normalish, except that it was really just 2:30 in my brain....  What time will the sun come up today?  7:30?

The equinox is just next week; about 7:10 here, and 7:05 there.

BTW, I realized after I posted that B'ham (and Pell City) are far enough east that you get the sun 5 minutes before us.  Enjoy it.  We'll be stumbling in the dark while you'll have this:

Not me, you (within a margin of a few dozen miles).
