Good news here tonight:

1.  Rain.  It's been raining since 6:00.  We've had an inch now.  We needed it.

2.  I bought some silver dollars this weekend at the show.  One of them is worth twice what the others are worth.  I didn't notice it when I bought them.

I bought some new uncirculated silver dollars back in 1999 and again in 2000 for the new Millennium. I gave some of them out at Christmas back then. I still have about 10 or so from each year. Not sure because they are in a safe deposit box. I bought a roll (25) of the Susan B. Anthony dollars in 2001 all uncirculated. I also have some real old silver dollars as well.

The reason I bought the Susan B Anthony coins was because I went on a campout in Jackson Mississippi Harley Davidson dealership.

The owner had a list of things you had to bring to get in line for the 2002 and 2003 HD bikes.

The list had a roll of pennies, a roll of new nickles, a roll of new dimes, a roll of new quarters, a roll of new dollars, a large state flag from where you were from, some Mardi Gras beads, and the largest DD bra you could find.

I kept all the coins. Took the bra and flag back to Walmart.

When you signed in at the dealership you had to show the owner all your required items and tell him which motorcycle you wanted him to order and in which color.

No money down or anything else.

Saturday morning, 2 busses showed up and took everyone to the airport. He had chartered a jet to San Antonio Texas. He flew everyone out there for an airshow and a motocycle show. Then on Sunday he had B B Q cooked on a grill out back of the dealership and a big party for all.

He also gave discounts on HD chrome at -10% and installed it free. I bought 2 bikes from him. A 2002 and a 2003 model.

He had camp sites out back everywhere of the dealership plus large bath house and walk in coolers for your beer.
All the items were to show you at least went to all the trouble. To differentiate between serious buyers and tire kickers?

Sure it was away for him to know if people were serious buyers. Ten years ago it was unheard of ordering a particular model and a two-tone paint scheme. Buyers had to pick from what the dealers had in stock or get on a waiting list for the model and maybe hope it came in the paint job you wanted.

Also back then he was the only dealership in the southeast to sell HDs at MSRP. All the rest of the dealers added $2000 - $3000 to MSRP plus added all the dealer prep fees and expense. I only went to 2 campouts, but he had 3-4 each year. He made his money by selling quantity.

Also in 2003, HD offered the 100th anniversary models and they were going to be hard to get in the model you wanted with the special paint and extras.

If you wanted to order an anniversary model you had to have purchased a bike from "Earl Roddam" before at ' Harley Davidson of Central Mississippi'.

I first camped out on St Patricks day weekend in 2001 and ordered a 2002 bike. He had over 100 people campout at both campouts. He had 2 busses come on Saturday night and take everyone to all the strip clubs in Jackson Mississippi.

Then the next year in March he carried all his previous customers to Texas for the airshow and motorcycle show. I had a blast both times I camped out. Meet some great people from all over the south at those campouts.

You realize, of course, that this is the first non-Sar comment you've made in 2 days (excepting PMs).  Unless, of course, this too is Sar.  Well?
