This is making the morning talk shows.  Apparently their cannon was being fired as part of a stunt, but went awry toward a nearby house, through the walls of the house and through a minivan.  Not good.

"This cannonball was supposed to pass through several barrels of water and a cinder block wall to slow its inertia," said J.D. Nelson of Alameda County Sheriff's Department. "When the shot was fired, it misfired. The cannon lifted."

The cannonball apparently hit something that caused it to shoot over the hillside that protects the neighborhood below.

It's snowing again.  The yard is covered, probably only about an 1", but now it's coming down pretty well.

I've spent the early morning tying rigs for trolling.  I use 4.5" squid skirts (below) with 80# steel test and 4/0 hooks. Most everything goes after those: Barracuda (the one above was on this lure), Snapper, Tuna, Mackerel, and Jacks.

It's still snowing here, but it's just 33 degrees, so not much is accumulating.  Cars have about 2" on them; lawns about 1".  The streets are clear; steps slick.  Looks cool, like a wonderland.

Time to move farther south.

Been there, done that. I worked for the Lauderdale County, Tennessee SD back when the largest ice storm to hit this country completely decimated that area back in '93. It was literally the busiest day of my life.
