Man I use to love Model Trains and Rockets when I was growing up. RTR!

I was still shooting rockets well into my 20s.  Course I was up to the stuff that was breaking FAA regulations to fire without their clearance.  ;0)

I have a HO scale layout upstairs. It is in a 10 X 18 ft room, with an 15 ft corridor leading into the 10X18 rm. It is a double deck with top level is 54 inches off floor. Lower level is 38 inches off floor. Levels are stacked about each other.

Levels are connected with a 60" Dia helix that has 5 complete circles of double track on a 2.5 % grade.

It runs around the wall with upper level sticking out 24" and lower level sticking out 30" fron the walls.

I ought to put you in touch with my brother in Atlanta. He's very much into the model trains also.

2  does he model in HO?

Coach, I think he does, but I'm not positive. Not really my cup-o-tea, but it seems I remember hearing him talking about HO scale models. Next time I talk to him or e-mail him, I'll ask.

I have modeled HO gauge since I was young. My grandfather was a railroad engineer for  61 years.

I know we have the Heisman award ceremony to look forward to tomorrow night, but it's kinda sad that there's no Bama game to watch.  Sad

Too true. I probably will watch at least some of Army-Navy. I seem to always watch at least a little of it every year. Still a long wait until the Who gets its whoopin'. Sort of like the old Sportscenter commercial with Evander Holyfield and Charlie Steiner:

Thanks 2 but he has been gone since 1979. He was 89 when he passed.

No child labor laws when started working for the railroad. 11 years old as just a helper and worked until he turned 72 and retired in 1962.

I remember going to the railroad when he retired and all his grandkids got to ride in a Baldwin diesel locomotive in the freight yard.

He was first railroad engineer in state of Alabama to operate a diesel locomotive, when BSRR received new ones and got rid of the old steam locomotives.

He worked at US Steel FairField works for the Birmingham Southern Railroad. Company is still operating around US Steel. Goes to Brimingport, Concord mines, all around that huge mill up to East Thomas yard where Arkadelphia exit off of interstate.

Birmingham Southern RR travels to Norfolk Southern's Norris yard in Irondale. His route took him by the Whistle-stop Cafe in Irondale, where movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" was supposed to have happened according to Fannie Flag the author.

Yeah I know, but its one of my all time favorites. I spoke about a whoopin' and this immediately came to mind.

Carson is a conehead.  And Erin is ... hot.

You know, Carson has become a babe magnet in recent months.  He'll have to keep his guard up.  Thinking

My daughter has one ticket from her girl friend Dana whose husband works for UA athletic department. If anyone can find one or two more she can. She is a 2009 grad from the capstone and she is like smart and stuff you know.

I've noticed in interviews and pics after the tornado that much of the life had gone from Carson's eyes, understandably. This is the first pic I've seen of him, post tornado, where his eyes are dancing with life. I have a new respect for Erin Andrews, taking time out to spend time with these guys.
