Saying Goodby is Never Fun

What an ending to what I think is one of the most amazing stories ever at the University of Alabama. Just by chance that Jesse Williams was discovered at a JUCO in New Mexico and played on two national championship teams, what are the odds of that. We can all thank an excoach, Jim McElwain, for this ever happening.

I have met Jesse only briefly and I wish it were possible that I could spend a long while with him, just to hear him tell his story of how all this happened. Having met his family, I am so impressed with them, they are a proud family and rightfully so.

Jesse was a star for this Bama team, having very little experience when he came to Bama, but learned one of the most complicated football systems in college football and now he will go to the next level of football and should be just as big a star there. What an accomplishment.

Good luck to Jesse in the next chapter of his life as a professional football player. I guess I feel somewhat cheated that I didn't get to see him play four years for the Crimson Tide, but I'll always cheerish the two that I did get to see.

His dad, Kuiyam, looked at me after the game monday night with sadness in his eyes and said, it's over, it's all over, Jessie is done playing football for Alabama. We looked at each other for quite sometime and I could see then the love that Kuiyam and family had developed for Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama.

I will miss them because you never want to say goodby to a good friend, but Kuiyam has promissed me that they have plans to come back to Tuscaloosa in the years ahead to visit and I'll be looking forward to that.

Well said, Jamos. For two great seasons, we were privileged to have a young man of great ability, but also great character, play for our beloved Tide. Jesse has a promising future ahead of him in the NFL, but will be greatly missed by everyone in the Bama Nation. Kuiyam, if you read this, thank you for sharing your wonderful son with us for these past two years. I know you and the rest of his family are proud of him, and we wish him and your family the best.

I too only met him briefly, but I've got to tell you, he is a chip off the ole block. Kuiyam is a great guy. He and Mrs. Williams definitely raised him right. There is a very strong bond in that family that I can tell you that will never be broken. I'll have one more chance to see Kuiyam, not sure about Jesse, before they go back to Australia. I'm looking forward to it. I can tell you that Jamos and I are richer people for knowing  them. I'm kind of hoping Jesse is drafted by N.O. or Atlanta so it would be easier to go see him play, but I wish him the best, wherever he ends up. Roll Tide, guys!

Saints would be great, but of course I would like to see him up here in Baltimore so I can watch him every Sunday in purple and black.

He did play in Arizona, these senior moments are happening too often anymore. Thanks for correcting me.

me too Jamos me too !   

this season was the first in awhile we didn't get up there at least once 
so we have some making up to do for missing a year looks like 
between the knees and the job change it just wasn't in the stars this year .
