No University of Alabama players from its 2011 football team failed the NCAA-mandated test for performance-enhancing substances following the team's national championship win over LSU, Tidesports.com has learned.
A Sports Illustrated report details a meeting that several Alabama players had with Sports With Alternatives to Steroids (SWATS) representative Christopher Key two nights before Alabama's national championship game appearance in New Orleans. Among SWATS' products is an oral spray purported to contain deer antler extract and a substance called IGF-1 (Insulin Growth Factor), which is banned by the NCAA.
