I saw Mike Tyson being interviewed by Greta Susteran.  He looks SO healthy now, and claims that he feels 100% better on a vegetarian diet.

I am starting to try it.  The first two days of this week were O.K. but then I started feeling SO hungry and irritable.  I am used to eating eggs, meat, and milk along with grain, vegetables and fruit.  The plant based foods did not stick with me and I felt hungry all the time.

When I went to the refrigerator and ate practically a whole loaf of bread because of   feeling half starved to death….that was it.  Angry I baked a chicken last night and had a good breakfast with eggs this morning.

But I am looking for good vegan recipes and am going to try it again.

Any vegetarians here?   Mike Tyson sold me on trying it.  Wink

I grew up with a dad who owned a wholesale meat business - no way I'm ever going to give up all meat.   Grin  Besides, isn't bacon a meat?!  No way!

Having said that, I would like to have more meatless meals at our house but "you know who" is a carnivore who thinks beef belongs on the plate at most meals and in most dishes!  I buy pasta with meat fillings for him and cheese or mushroom fillings for me - same with lasagna.  With just two of us it's tricky and I don't slave in the kitchen but sometimes I make shrimp or scallops for me when he wants beef.

I don't have any answers - guess I just alter where I can and I try to move me a little further away from meat all the time.  I think some meat in the diet is healthy and don't really see any need to give it up entirely.

Don't you suspect that Mike Tyson has a personal fitness trainer, vitamins, etc. that he may not have talked about?

I do, and Tyson also has extreme self-discipline and high tolerance for pain I would think.  Also, a menu planner and cook.  Cheesy

We did the Daniel Fast earlier this year. 21 days just fruit, veggies. No meat or sweets. Felt pretty good and my wife found some really good recipes. I couldn't go strictly vegetarian but would like to incorporate some veggie only meals into our weekly menus.

I think that sounds like the thing to do...incorporate some veggie only meals and cut out most sweets. Did you have more energy and feel better like Tyson says?

We really did. I think the hardest thing was just thinking about how good beef, pork or chicken would have been with each meal.

That might pass.  Tyson says eating meat now...makes him feel sick.  We sure would save on grocery bills.

My bad.  I thought the thread title was "Mike Tyson is a Vegetable".  I'd always known that, but wanted to see if CP thought it occurred during the Holyfield or Buster Douglas fights (I think it was Buster, but that's up for debate).

It's just about food, though.   Sad

The Daniel fast also cleans the body for the Spirit to become more open. I wonder if you felt any of this? RTR!

P.S. post.

And no, Tyson is not a vegetable from all the head beatings.  I am amazed at his intelligence.  You should listen to him sometime.  He studies so deeply into many areas.  He is very knowledgeable....self educated.
