Bracketologists haven't completely written off Alabama's NCAA tournament chances

Alabama remains on the bubble going into its regular-season finale at 3 p.m. CST Saturday at home against Georgia.

That's probably because other teams on the bubble keep losing, too.

But if Alabama wins Saturday and Ole Miss loses at LSU and Tennessee loses to Missouri and Kentucky loses Thursday at Georgia or Saturday to Florida and others outside the SEC continue to fall, who knows?
 
We know the Tide's chances are slim, but it still appears to be premature to say "none."

Kentucky lost last night. That helps us get a bye until Friday in the SEC Tournament as well put us up one more rung on ESPN's first four out.

Beating UGA and getting to Saturday in the SEC Tourny may be enough.

 Making a deep run in the "Nobody's Interested Tourney" may be more beneficial to this team for next season. To say being a back-to-back NCAA Tourney team is a recruiting tool is to underestimate the basketball intelligence of our potential recruits. 9'GB won't know the difference.

I disagree. A deep run in the NIT helps a young team. We only lose on senior who does not start but we are a verteran team. IMO our players will benefit more from playing on the big stage. It will prepare them for what to expect next year when we make a deep run in the NCAA Tourny. In the NIT you play the first few rounds on college campus like a regular season game in front of half empty crowds. If you make it to New York you play in front of an empty house. We don't need game experience. We need big game experience.

(If we go to the NIT I will be pulling for us to win it.)

We don't deserve the tourney at this point.  At the very least, it will take a win over Georgia and getting to the finals in the SEC Tourney.  Honestly, I think we have to win the SEC Tourney.

In the NIT you get a maximum of 5 extra games if you make it to the finals. Games will start immediately. First round games will be on Monday and Tuesday after the SEC Tourny.

Football bowl game practices are very different. You get a month off before the game. You take some time off and get over nagging injuries. Then you start a spring type practice schedule.

You make a good point about playing different teams with different styles of play. However, I do not think the NIT will benefit our team as much as one or two rounds of the NCAA Tourny.

NIT does that stand for Now In Tourney? I ain't looking at another place except the NCAA tournament. RTR!
