Clemson WR Says Tigers Should "Beat Mess Out of Georgia"

Tense rivalry just got hotter. This will be an extremely good game to watch.

One of this season’s premier out-of-conference games comes on opening weekend, as Clemson will host Georgia on Aug. 31. Yet though the matchup is likely to feature two preseason top-15 teams, at least one player thinks the result should be a blowout.

Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins told TigersNow.com that his team should take care of business against the Bulldogs, whose offense led the nation with an average of 7.09 yards per play last season:

This game could be closer than we are thinking.  Georgia loses most of its defense from last year, and we all have seen how Georgia underperforms early in the season.  Still, Watkins should know better than call out an SEC defense.

Also, let's not forget that Clemson doesn't bother to field a defense at all most years.  While the Clemson offense is no doubt going to be pretty good, the UGA offense isn't too shabby either with Murray and "Gurshal".  I will not be at all surprised if a depleted, rebuilding UGA defense is much better than what Clemson puts on the field year in and year out.

The summer isn't over yet and the Dawgs usually have about half of their team looking at a game suspension for some player issues during the off season, so who knows who they will have on the field that night. Dabo has all summer to get ready for his one big hurrah of the season so they may be wanting to get some bragging rights real quick. I just don't have a lot of faith in Richt in the big games and Georgia should win the game but you never know.
