In an interview on SportsCenter, Manziel was asked directly if he was drinking alcohol during his time at the camp, and he answered, “I’m not going into details about what happened at the Manning camp. We had social events every night.”

Manziel said he’s not going to apologize for the way he lives his life.

This is the best info I have heard on where Manziel was at and what really happened on his "sleeping too late" & his cell phone was dead, & AJ did not wake him excuse. Read entire link. What a lying sleazeball!

Basically it boils down to this: Manziel apparently lied to his own mother about his reason for missing camp meetings on Saturday morning, misled the media on SEC Media Day and threw Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron under the bus by forcing him to answer questions about why he didn’t wake Manziel up on Saturday morning. What McCarron had to avoid saying was the truth: he couldn’t wake Manziel up, because Manziel wasn’t in their room.

No one knows for sure where Manziel slept on Friday night, and the exact location is probably none of our da#@ business. But we do know it wasn’t at a Nicholls State dorm with roomie McCarron. It was reported to Archie Manning that Johnny Football was last seen somewhere on Bourbon Street in New Orleans at around 4 a.m. (The Nicholls campus is about an hour drive from New Orleans).

Well, all of his antics are starting to slam Manziel.

 

But the alleged escapades at the Manning camp, and Manziel's performance at the SEC media days last week, piqued the interest of some league personnel people. "I was especially interested in his comments about being just a '20-year-old' kid," said one regional scout who primarily works the SEC schools. "I'm tired of that excuse. If I had (Manziel) in an interview, and (suggested) to him that he was just a kid, he probably wouldn't react well. He's a 20-year-old man, he'd (protest). Well, he needs to start acting like one."]

Asking him whether or not he had alcohol during his time at camp isn't really a fair question (if you're going to indicted him for a simple yes).  There was a photo of Eli, Peyton, and AJ out drinking one of those nights as well...it definitely wasn't Eli's first one judging by his face.

Asking him whether or not he had alcohol during his time at camp isn't really a fair question (if you're going to indicted him for a simple yes).  There was a photo of Eli, Peyton, and AJ out drinking one of those nights as well...it definitely wasn't Eli's first one judging by his face.

The drinking age is 21, which Eli surpasses. Plus, he's not a 20 year old trying to improve as a QB & make it to the NFL.

I'm not condoning his actions, particularly if he lied about what he was actually doing, but I'm not ready to throw him under the bus for having a few beers just because he's shy of legal drinking age by a couple months.

I hear this excuse all the time. I guess I was  weirdo. I had been in the Army FOUR years before I had a drink at the age of 22, even though soldiers could drink at age 18. In fact, the Army posts had their own liquor stores. Underage drinking is a disaster in many cases, that's why you hear of 19 year olds falling from balconies at Panama City during Spring Break. Condoning or looking the other way is not the answer to the problem. My son just turned 21 and he drank before he was legal, but I never approved of it.

 , MD I have to applaud you my friend, because when we went in everyone had to go to PX every evening if they could especially at FT. Jackson, SC. We thought if we are gonna die in Vietnam we might as well be drunk. Although when I got to Ft. Polk and they got us straight on what Charley would do to us, it changed my mind from drinking to sipping sometimes.

I don't think anyone is holding him to higher standards, he has done this to himself. He thinks he is much bigger than he is and if he doesn't make some adjustments to himself he will find out the hard way. Handling success isn't easy in many cases and he sure hasn't done a very good job handling his success.

Legal drinking age was 19 when I was in college at Alabama, the age you still are considered a legal adult here.

Really, the knock on Manziel him is maturity, mostly a concern for an NFL franchise considering shelling out the bucks.
