I've kind of sat back and watched this situation unfold. This is JMHO, but I think that Manziel is big time guilty and aTm knows he's big time guilty. They've brought the lawyers in because they know that:

1) The NCAA has egg on their face for selling gear on their web site making the money that JF is not allowed to do.

2) The NCAA is a much weaker organization than it used to be, and is losing steam by the minute.

These 2 facts, in the eyes of aTm, means that the NCAA is ripe for the picking, and it's these attorneys that can go for the NCAA jugular.

If they can't get it done before the Bama game, they will roll the dice and play JF, thinking their chances are pretty good at beating the NCAA.

Like I said, this is just my opinion, but I really feel they are going down this road.

Nicely articulated.

Thanks Coach. What's your take on this?

I agree with you.  I really doubt anything will happen to JM.  Someone will have to step forward with undeniable evidence for him to be suspended.

Texa$ A&M Athletic Director:

"There simply is no blueprint for handling what Johnny and his family have gone through since December. What we have done is surround Johnny with a support network of dedicated staff from the areas of administration, academics, scheduling, compliance, media relations, and even security to assist him during these unprecedented times. ...
Any decisions we make regarding this situation will be based on an analysis of available facts."

Translation: Johnny is the victim here, and A&M will protect him.

A&M does not plan to do anything. It's the NCAA's move. I question whether the NCAA has the backbone or competence to perform a thorough investigation.

Stop. Stop. You're breaking my heart about this poor, underprivileged child's life. Life is so hard and unfair.

I believe that aTm understands that the media is concerned about news, not justice. The JF stories broke in a very slow sports news cycle. They fully understand that with NFL preseason games underway, and the college football season just days away, there will be plenty of distractions from the JF story. Certainly the NCAA, with the glacial pace of its investigations, will be unlikely to put the issue out front again until after the season. They still have not closed the Miami case for Pete's sake. aTm is certainly not going to cause problems for themselves by acting on this now.

Here's another reason to ignore the problems and go ahed and play JF. If the team suspends him and plays it's games, the games will count and the pressure is off the NCAA to act against JF or aTm. If aTm plays JF, that puts the NCAA in the position of having to penalize the whole program, invalidate the games they win this year, investigate who knew what in the AD...... aTm is about to play a variant on the strategy of "easier to get forgiveness than permission". They are going to create a situation in which the NCAA has more incentive not to find against them.

I agree, Manziel is 20 and should be whooping it up by all means. I hope he is partying every night. Applause E-Cred

He needs to change his moniker. JWF Johnny Whooping Football. Of course after Sept. 14 it will be JGHAB. I'll leave that one to the imagination.  Wink

Bartender, will you please give Mr. Manziel another beer and put it on my tab. Actually, put all of his drinks on my tab since he's not of age to buy it. Just make sure he has a good time. Wink
