I don't know if we have any Professional Boxing fans but, if so, check out Deontay Wilder, a heavyweight from Tuscaloosa. Wilder is 29-0 all by KO. I'm not sure if he has ever gone past 3 rounds and I'm not sure I have ever seen anyone who hits as hard as he does.

He is the last US boxing medalist, Gold I think. He knocked out a guy from Belarus last night with a viscous right that sent the guy to the mat in seizures. I would not be surprised to see him as Heavyweight champ in a couple of years.

Deontay was the last American to medal in the Olympic boxing but it wasn't gold.  He won the Bronze but if I remember correctly, he was basically robbed of his chance to fight for gold.  He has also been past the third round professionally only one time.  That was a 4th round TKO win over Harold Sconiers.  He is the real deal!

Actually it was a little fun that we were having. Deontay was working for a local beverage company at that time and was making his deliveries to the country club that I belong to. As he was coming outside the door he looked at me and I told him that I thought I wanted a piece of him and let's get it on. He lay his hand trucks down and we balled out fists up and then it was a high five and a little hug with a big laugh. He then told me he was glad that I wasn't serious because he had an upcoming fight and didn't want to get hurt and I told him he was lucky that I wasn't serious. That really brought on a laugh from my buddies. He's a very nice person, always smiling.  Cheesy

Maybe someday he will win the championship.

Deontay is a big Bama fan and wanted to play receiver or play basketball for Bama, but life got in the way and he ended up at Sheldon State.

He's currently the WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champion, and I believe he's probably only a couple fights away from getting a shot at the big belt.  I think Oscar dela Hoya is his promoter.

He was arrested and charged with some type of felony battery crime in Vegas a couple months back.  His explanation was that he thought someone was stealing from him...we'll see how that turns out.
