The ACC with the Orange Bowl does nothing but diminish what was once a great Bowl game & why is college football still kissing Notre Dame's butt?

Quote
The SEC will have guaranteed bowl spots for at least 10 of its 14 members beginning in 2014, sources told ESPN.

The bowl affiliations will be filled after any SEC teams qualify for the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Quote
Also, in years the Discover Orange Bowl does not host the national semifinals, a team from the SEC, Big Ten or Notre Dame will play in the Orange Bowl against the ACC.

The bowl games just don't interest me as much as they once did. I liked the old format of selecting teams from their rankings to play each other better than conference vs conference. Some of these games are as exciting as watching paint dry on a wall. JMHO

I do not understand the SEC bowl picking order. Is this correct?  Huh?

1st Pick: Four Team Playoff
2nd Pick: Sugar Bowl
3rd Pick: Orange Bowl (some years)
4th Pick: Capitol One

Not concerned about the rest.

The Orange Bowl is a prime example of how this system has almost destroyed the prestige of a once great bowl game. Plus, it looks like the Sugar Bowl will be hurt, too.

Hey pmull if we have Ten Bowls to fill, why should we not have a concern for who does fill those bowls. If we put auburn in one and they lose it, it brings down the face of the SEC. We know that the face of the SEC stands on how many other teams we beat especially in bowl games. RTR!

The addition of the fifth BCS game essentially destroyed the bowls.  The last few years there's been almost nothing to get excited about after the championship game, especially since the Big East got to keep their worthless seat at the table and the major bowls were forced to take teams like Boise, TCU, and Utah.

The BCS did little to settle the debate about who the national champion should be and destroyed what used to make college football so unique.  The playoff will change the debate from who should be 1 and 2 to who should be 3 and 4 and make the bowls even more irrelevant.

Preacher I want the SEC to win all their games except auburn. If they make one I can not pull for them. I am trying to figure out the top of the order. Once I get that figured out I will worry about the bottom half.

I see. The top of the order to me should be as follows.
(1) ALABAMA
(2) Georgia
(3) LSU
(4) USCe
(5) Texas A&M
(6) Florida
(7) Ole Miss
(Cool Miss. State

Hey let me know what you think of my Top 8. RTR!

I've thought for years that there were too many bowls. Something special has been turned into a celebration of mediocrity. "I got an idea. Let's reward every team that gets to .500!"  Banging your head against the wall.

They do. They send them to a bowl game, where they get beat, and go below .500 at 6-7.  Huh?

I really don't mind all the bowl games -- without them, football season would be over.

Yes, the BCS, and mid-major whining, has taken away some of the luster of the big bowl games.  Matchups in the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and even the Rose bowls have been weak lately, compared to what they once were.  Northern Illinois had no business being in the Orange Bowl last year.

The Sugar Bowl is going to be home to the SEC v. Big12 "Champions Bowl," so when the BCS ends we may get matchups like the TAMU v. OK game.  I think the end of the BCS also might help improve other traditional bowls -- what will happen to the mid-major formula?  Will it be playoff or bust?  The playoffs will give us three interesting bowls, winner take all, with the rest being irrelevant in the national race, but still it's football.
