I've often wonder if they might be better off going back to leather helmets for that very reason.
This reminds me of a suggestion Lewis Grizzard once made on reducing head on automobile accidents.  Remove the drivers airbag and replace it with a large metal spike mounted in the center of the steering wheel.  Makes sense to me. Afraid Laughing
