AHSAA bans Walker from playoffs, suspends coaches for remainder of year

Both coaches involved are supended for the year. (The Walker coach has resigned.) Walker can not go to the playoffs. Walker was on probation from an incident last year. This was an ugly situation that made our entire state look bad.

The AHSAA handed stiff punishment to Walker and Cullman high schools in response to last week’s on-field coaching brawl, including suspension of the coaches involved for the remainder of the 2013 season.

In addition, Walker’s football program has been placed on restrictive probation – meaning the Vikings are barred from the 2013 football playoffs – and each school received a $1,500 fine. Cullman’s football program received one year of non-restrictive probation, meaning the Bearcats can advance to the playoffs.

I don't think the penalties are stiff at all. It is about the minimum the AHSAA could do IMO. Walker is lucky they still have a football program. They were on probation from last year for players fighting.

There is a true story that happened while I was working up there that a woman got a guy to bump off her husband for a six-pack. I hope it wasn't PBR ....

You can tell it is poor economy. A few years ago the rumor was $100.
