Rose should be in the HOF. Nothing he did changes the numbers he put up or the passion with which he played.

Does forgiveness ever come into mind when these guys are called names and are made to look so horrible? I do believe that we loved watching them play if they was on the team we liked, if not, then we hated them, is this correct? RTR!

I agree he is a dirtbag. He should never be allowed to coach or hold a front office job. However, he is still one of the very best to ever play the game and deserves to be in the HOF.

I have to admit that there has prolly never been another player with the hustle and all-out effort that Pete Rose had. His stats clearly state that he s/b in the HOF. The total lack of character he displayed throughout his whole gambling investigation process is what will keep him out. At least in my lifetime. Maybe down the road, others will be more forgiving and vote him in.

What's keeping him out of the HOF does not have anything to do with his numbers or his hustle, it has to do with the fact that he was rightly and legally BANNED FROM BASEBALL because he commited an act which gets you banned from baseball.

But does the punishment fit the crime. Is there any proof, or even allegations, that PR bet on games in which he was involved. Not saying he should be in HOF, just saying that the door should be reopened for discussion.

I agree Leewillie. I said in my statement about forgiveness that he should also be punished accorrding to the Law. I just don't know how many more years you could get him by calling him a Dirtbag or whatever. If Baseball does not allow him in because of his doing wrong, then so be it but accorrding to his playing days I only say he deserves to be in the HOF. Thanks for checking this out. RTR!

I agree. I also think most people are disappointed in him over the whole affair. If he had not gambled, there's not a soul who wouldn't be happy to see him in the HOF.

No comparison and totally off the subject. Gambling will destroy any sport if not dealt with in a harsh and firm manner. The integrity of the game has to be protected. Rose has admited to gambling on baseball, what more do you need to know?
