Quote
Former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese and athletic directors Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin), Pat Haden (USC), Jeff Long (Arkansas), Oliver Luck (West Virginia) and Dan Radakovich (Clemson) have been chosen to be on the College Football Playoff selection committee, sources told ESPN.

The selection committee will consist of 12 to 18 individuals. Sources previously told ESPN that at least one athletic director from each of the five power conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC) would be represented on the committee.

ACC and power conference in the same sentence just do not match up.

I wonder if they will put someone like Chiznik, Pat Dye, or Jay Jacobs on the committee.

Applause E-Cred, I had not thought about this but you have a point. What major goof up that might be to think of one of them. I would however suggest Coach Stallings if he would take it. RTR!

Seems like Jeff Long isn't a very strong choice for the SEC.

That's why he is there, to make it look legit when they overlook the SEC.

Shouldn't the committee membership reflect the conference's experience in BCSNCGs?

The SEC should have 7X more members than anyone else!

I know Condi is a huge NFL fan, not so sure about college football, though. She is from Birmingham and I think she is a Tide fan.

I think she's a pretty big football fan in general.  I know she likes Bama and she's supported Stanford as a professor (or dean or whatever) there.

I had forgotten her Stanford connections. She was Provost, a big time position. Stanford is the Harvard of the West.

She is a Cleveland Browns and Stanford fan -- she has met with Stanford football recruits.  I know she has been to Bama games too and likes the Tide.  I cannot really think of a better woman to be on the committee, except maybe Robin Roberts, or Ms. Terry.

I really like the fact that Condi Rice will be on the committee notwithstanding that she really likes Bama and will be the smartest person in the room.

I think the Condi Rice move is brilliant. She is very intelligent, and she really reps 2 conferences: Pac 12 and SEC. She taught at Stanford and is a big Bama fan.
