True story that happened about 15 years ago.
When I first started a job my email account would not work because they forgot to give me the correct network permissions for that account. So I called the help desk people to tell them.
Me: "I do not have the correct authorization to access my email account."
Idiot: "You really should not call the help desk directly, we have a system in place to field support issues. Bla Bla Bla..."
Me" "I understand you have a system in place, but I can't access my e-mail account"
Idiot: "Bla Bla Bla... I can't help you unless you go through the proper system bla bla bla..."
Me (already knowing the answer, but asking the question to make the idiot think): "And what is the proper system for issues like this."
Idiot: "You need to
send an e-mail to the help desk so that it will be triaged to the appropriate queue and dispatched on a first come first serve basis."
Me: "So how do you suggest that I do that, considering
THAT I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO MY E-MAIL ACCOUNT"
Embarrassed Idiot: "Hold on Sir while I activate your e-mail account... OK... It should work now... If you have any more problems with it please let me know. Thank you for calling the help desk"
