'Coach Grant just said that if you've got everything you want at home, why go somewhere else?' - Trevor Lacey.
That sounds like such a simple formula for recruiting. It was one that worked to perfection for the University of Alabama as it managed to land Trevor Lacey, the nation's best late-period basketball recruit and, according to most analysts, one of the top 30 overall players in the country in this class.
Lacey could have gone anywhere in the country - his finalists included two of the nation's elite program, Kansas and Kentucky. But Anthony Grant was able to convince Lacey that Alabama - which cannot match the basketball tradition at those two schools - could match their potential for winning. Then, and only then, did it become a case of 'Sweet Home Alabama.'
