We just get by a DII team in OT. Not what I hoped for. We should beat them by 25. We have to get better. We play Oklahoma on Friday.

Releford scores a game high 27. Jacobs had 12, Copper 9, Obasohan 5, Hale 4, Engstrom 4, Taylor 12 and Key 2.

Jabobs had 9 rebs. Taylor had 6 rebs and 7 blocks.

WG out rebounded us 49-40. They had 22 off rebs.

We were 22-30 at the line. WG was 5-11.

WG shot 77 two pts shots and 27 thee point shots for 104 shots. We were 48/11/59. That is a huge difference. We did shoot 19 more free throws.

Whew, how ugly can a basketball game be. I know it's the first game of the season but if a total stranger, one that knows nothing about the Bama program, was at the game tonight he might have thought that Bama had just started their program. There is no way this team is as bad as they played tonight.

If Releford had not been able to play tonight, Bama would have lost by 20 or more. It was hard to pinpoint a part of their game that hurt them the most. They couldn't shoot, couldn't rebound, made terrible passes, but the defense did play well at times.

I thought Taylor and Hale had a lot of effort in the first half but were just outplayed by the West Georgia players underneath the basket. Jacobs had his moments and didn't really exert himself until the last 7 minutes of the game. Engstom should have had at least 10-12 rebounds tonight but just can't get his timing right to leap and catch. Cooper should have had more points but just couldn't get the ball to go down for him, he had some open shots. I was disappointed in Obasohan's play. He has got to become more of an offensive threat to get some pressure off of Releford. Releford had 27 points but he earned them. Obasohan has the talent to score more, he just needs to take some shots when he is open.

The rebounding was just terrible, Bama has no one that knows how to block out underneath the basket. If they do know how, they sure weren't applying what they know tonight.

This was just an exhibition game but I don't think Bama needed to have the score as close as it was. This team will have to play with a lot of emotion until they can get a little more synchronized and play as a unit, not as a one man scoring machine. They have some decent players that are fully capable of playing better than they did tonight but they better do it quick, because they have Oklahoma next and I don't think the Okies will show an SEC team any mercy. You never know, they may come out Friday afternoon and play as they are capable of playing, let's hope so.

Are you kidding me!? I didn't listen to the game since i thouhgt we would win by 30 or more and everybody would play. This is horrible and embarrassing. What is going on with Grant and the Tide? I was looking forward to the Friday game with Oklahoma, but this type of play is completely unacceptable.

It was the first game of the season and I'm hoping with that behind them the team will play better in their next game. Basketball is a game known for it's ups and downs and I really think some of the new players came away form the game with a different view of how good their team is. There is potential from the new players, they just have to learn to play on a higher level for 40 minutes. I do give them credit for their play in the last 7 minutes of the game, it was the best that they played the whole game and it was the reason for the win. It wasn't pretty but I think it served as a big wake up call for those on the team that thought they were a good team.

We'll learn more about them on Friday against Oklahoma.

By the way, Levi Randolph was in his sweats before the game and had no limp whatsoever. He actually took some shots and jogged off the floor as the team went to the dressing room before the game.

I didn't get to watch or hear it but it sure jars me a little bit. West Ga. is good in their division of BB but they should not be that close to the Tide BB program. I hope for the future but I have to say I am a little nervie too. I thought this would be the breakout year. RTR!

More awful news about the West Georgia game. Last year they were 9-18 in basketball. Great team, huh?

Anyone who listened to the game, can you tell me why we almost got beat by such an incredibly poor team? Were we totally unprepared, lazy, poorly coached, or just did not care? This game really bugs me. I will be listening Friday when they play Oklahoma.
