If you look at my old post you can tell I am not a fan of Lane Kiffin as a person or a head coach.  He may be a good coordinator.  His stats show this.  I just hope and will trust Coach Saban to keep him on a tight rope.  I don't like his attitude of being better than others.  Now there is talk of ED O coming in to coach the D line.  i will say here that I am not a fan of his either.  I don't trust him and could see him getting Bama in trouble.  Again, I will hope Saban will keep him on a short rope if he is an addition to the staff.  I am a Bama and Saban fan, but not quite sold on these two.

I think Steele will be on the field next year. I believe that is why he turned down UL DC. That said, my guess is Thompson may move to DL and Steele to lb. Just my guess.

To HSCOACH: I completely concur.  Compliance staff needs to be all over either or both of these guys.

To HSCoach -- Agree with your post.  He has behaved like a jerk on too many occasions.  Do any of us believe he is a changed man?  Not I.

Hard to imagine the Ed O thing working out.  Coach O said some pretty tough stuff about Kiff after Kiff was fired at USCw.  CNS doesn't need to be a baby sitter between those two.  Also, compliance will have it's hands full with Kiff.  Adding Ed O to the mix might overwhelm them.

I too think Steele will be back on the field and there will be some shuffling.

Frequently organizational change is good and I hope that's the case here.  Just hope Kiff doesn't cause tension within the coaching staff.

I hope some way we get the Special Teams-ss, a lot better. We have to weary of getting those 5 yards that kill us. MHO. RTR!

QB David Cornwell thinks Kiffen is a good hire.

I think folks need to stop worrying about things that are beyond their control regarding Bama and just support the team (coaches and players) in every way possible.  So you don't like X coach?  Big deal!  You aren't the one that is paying them and you aren't being paid to make decisions as to how and who runs the program.  Let Coach Saban and the AD worry about those type decisions and I'm sure you will get better sleep at night and will require at least a few less Tumms... Just my opinion here again but... I don't remember Coach Saban indicating that negativity toward the coaches and/or players was part of the "Process" that he has been preaching and that we all love so much.  He has been extremely successful during his tenure at Alabama and I feel that we owe him our complete support in making the decisions that directly effect the team.  It is the reason that he is paid so well after all.  How many times has he asked the fans to "do their part" of the Process by supporting the team?  I don't really believe that he meant just with our attendance at games either.  Now, I don't know if there are any of Bama's players or coaches that read this board currently but I do believe that there is a chance that at least one does.  If it just so happens that Coach Saban were to come across this site and read the opinions that are freely expressed here (and I'm sure this isn't the only site where this stuff is discussed) then just how long do you think he would stick around as our beloved coach?  No, I'm not suggesting that we "blindly follow around like sheep" but until there is something, anything that is truly worthy of our being critical of the Process then perhaps those opinions would be better kept to ourselves... again, just MY OPINION...

Sometimes for a person to change their lifestyle they have to experience total failure. Getting a second chance in life isn't and doesn't always look the same for someone that is in a need for  that second chance. It could be drugs, alcohol, etc. and in Kiffen's case, it seems to be his overzealouse ambitions in life. He made it to the top of his goal in life by becoming a head coach at a very young age but he wasn't near mature enough to handle all of the public exposure that came with it and made himself look like a total idiot at times, which help bring on his failure in coaching.

Nick Saban isn't the average Joe when it comes to developing a person. It becomes a personal goal for him to take that someone and make them a better person first and then teach them how to be successful in life playing football or whatever their goal may be. We all just don't know about some of the players that he has recruited that had big problems with themselves when they came on campus to play for Bama and it took a lot of personal attention from him and the other coaches to change these players into someone who is now respected and appreciated. These are the qualities in life that they had never thought of before and would have never have thought of them had not CNS and his staff took a chance with them. We hear of some of the players who experince this wonderful life change but there are many others that we don't.

It will be very interesting to follow the saga of Lane Kiffen and any others that may be hired in the near future at Bama, to see how much change we see in them as they are exposed to a whole new lifestyle. I'm betting it will be a positive change for them and who knows, it might be the change that permits them to reach those lofty goals that they had once dreamed of, to be succesful, but had failed miserably.JMO

Well said Jamos.  I'll add a couple of thoughts and then shut up on this.

1.  The kind of change you are referring to has to start within a person. So... does Kiff believe he needs to change?  Guess we'll find out.

2.  Don't think Kiff has ever had a job in an organization with the kind of structure and control he'll be in at Bama.  Will be a good experience for him if he embraces it.
