A few things to consider before hopping on the bandwagon to fire CMG.
Ten SEC teams made the NCAA Tournament. Only two, Ole Miss and Vandy, advanced to super regional's next weekend.
Arky, USCe and the SEC's top team Florida got knocked out early. Kentucky made it to the regional final but could not force the "if necessary" game 7. LSU, A&M, Miss State and Bama all lost game 7.
Do we admit we had a pretty good year or do we fire 12 SEC coaches?
Anyone that follows SEC baseball could look at our schedule and tell the last four SEC series was extremely difficult. The fact we faded at the end of the year was not a surprise. We were very close to being an outstanding team. If we had won 2-3 more of those games we would have hosted a regional. Next year I expect to host a regional and I think we have the team and coach that can do it.
We had a much better year than anyone is giving this team credit for.
First of all, it's not a bandwagon. He has badly underperformed for 5 years as head coach. He has 3 losing SEC records and one .500 SEC record at 15-15. His SEC record is 65-75 after FIVE years. I just don't get why some fans just can't let go of these coaches who have shown they can not win big, even after 4 or 5 years. It doesn't matter if they recruit the best players in their sport, they do not develop them or use them properly resulting in the players being blamed for not winning.
