Conference is over. It lasted about 10 minutes. Nothing earth shattering. Questions about the punter's consistency, home v. road games, De'Runnya Wilson, Cam Robinson, Derrick Henry. Cooper Bateman is playing QB for the scout team this week.
Here is the synopsis from AL.com:
-- Saban jokes that he should have changed rules for practice viewing today to see how many media members could go through the cold.
-- "We have a tremendous amount of respect for this team we're playing."
-- "What's happened in the past, it doesn't really matter. Nothing matters. What matters is they have a really good team."
-- "Our team has always responded to a great atmosphere at home."
-- On what JK Scott does at practice: Saban said he doesn't want to take any credit for Scott's ability. "JK is very dedicated, really has a routine he likes to stay in." Alabama allows him to do what he wants to do to be successful.
-- Saban said one of the biggest challenges for specialists is "good enough is enough," reiterating something he said about Adam Griffith earlier this year.
-- On De'Runnya Wilson: Saban said he remembers visiting his school, said he thought he'd develop into this kind of player. "He certainly proved us to be absolutely correct."
-- On offense at home vs. road: "Every time we play a road game, we try to figure out what it is we need to do" to duplicate the consistency. Saban said first quarter vs. Tennessee was close, but other than that it's been "up and down."
-- On Cam Robinson: "It's really amazing to me that Cam has played as well as he's played" all season. Called improvement prior to his injury "astonishing." He's recovered from the injury and was close to 100 percent vs. LSU, but his performance was affected by lack of practice.
-- "This week, because he continues to get better and he's able to practice more, I think that will put him on track ..."
-- Cooper Bateman is playing the role of Dak Prescott in practice. Saban said he's been scout team player of the week numerous times this year.
-- Saban making baseball analogies when talking about Anthony Jennings scrambling in terms of mixing up what you do to attack the quarterback. Noted Alabama didn't hold their lanes on multiple plays and said Jennings could have run for a first down on last play of the game.
-- On Derrick Henry: "He's played well for us all year long." Best game was at Tennessee. "We have total confidence in him as a player ... we can help him improve even more." Role could get expanded as season progresses.
