HOOVER, Ala. - Alabama landed a conference-record 16 players on the 2011 SEC Media Days Preseason All-SEC Team, including a record nine first-team selections, the conference office announced on Friday.
The nine first-team honors broke the record of eight set in 2010 by Alabama and Florida in 2009. Offensive lineman Barrett Jones and center William Vlachos joined running back Trent Richardson on the first-team offense. Richardson was also named as a first-team pick as an all-purpose specialist.
Nose guard Josh Chapman, linebacker Dont'a Hightower, linebacker Courtney Upshaw and safeties Mark Barron and Robert Lester were selected to the first-team defense.
