Who's the most talented college football team heading into the 2011 season?

If you go by which team has the most NFL draft-eligible players on its roster and which team has the most high-round talent on its roster, Alabama is the winner.

Alabama, which produced four first-round picks this past April, could produce at least that many next year. Running back Trent Richardson, safety Mark Barron, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick and linebackers Courtney Upshaw and Dont'a Hightower are being projected as potential first-round picks. Offensive guard/tackle Barrett Jones, just a junior, is also expected to go high when he decides to come out, while center William Vlachos, safety Robert Lester and cornerback DeQuan Menzie -- all seniors -- are also future NFL players.

The race is not always to the swift or the battle to the strong, but that's the way to bet. With this talent I like Bama's chances this year.  Another thought, it is amazing how Spurrier has built the talent base at SC. Ahead of UGA, UT, and UF.

I was listening to Finebaum this week and a caller from USCe called in. He and Finebaum discussed that Spurrier said when he took the USCe job that he was going to built the program the right way and it would take a few years. They looked at his record and USCe has shown improvement each year. Finebaum agreed to a point but would not say USCe is a top tier SEC East team. They have improved but they have more winning to do before they get the respect of Florida and Georgia.
