Running back Kenyan Drake and junior receiver Chris Black both didn't participate in the scrimmage. Drake, who was dressed but off to the side during the media viewing period, didn't participate on Saturday because of a strained hamstring. Saban didn't expect it to be a "big issue" and held Drake out of the scrimmage to avoid it becoming a chronic issue.
Black, who is expected to take on a bigger role this season, was limited again due to a twisted ankle he suffered at the start of fall practice. He had been limited all week due to the injury.
