Terrance Ferguson, a five-star from Dallas, Texas, verbally committed to Alabama on Monday.

Ferguson, the nation's No. 11 overall player according to 247Composite, made the decision in a video released by Rivals.com. The shooting guard from Prime Prep Academy picked the Tide over Kansas, North Carolina and Louisville, among others. Ferguson won't be back at Prime Prep next year but has yet to pick a school for his senior year, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Last week the Birmingham News had nothing but big headlines for several days about Bruce Pearl getting a commitment from 5 star forward Mustapha Heron. It sure didn't take CAJ very long to one up Pearl with Ferguson's commitment. I think CAJ has a very good understanding of how important it is to beat Auburn. Wink

I believe CAJ is building his team to beat everybody and it don't matter who cares. He came to say "Alabama BB program is going to be fun someday." RTR!

Is Alabama and Auburn basketball going to be the new Duke vs UNC?

CAJ reeled in one big name today so now there's a 5 star here in Alabama that has committed to Michigan State, Joshua Langford. Since the Ferguson commitment has happened and CAJ seems to have some very positive things happening for the team, do you think Langford might entertain some thoughts about playing at home instead of going way up north. I get the feeling that CAJ and CAP will be spending some time in the Huntsville area in the very near future. I learned long ago to never say never. Wink

I think this is huge to establish Johnson as a legit NCAA coach.  It will build more excitement around the program, especially if Ferguson comes in a year from now and lives up to the hype.  A few more recruits of this caliber and some good coaching, and Bama will be ready to contend.

No. Pearl will be on the first mule out of the barn when a better offer comes along.
