Often that is a precursor to coaching changes.  Strong and Smart better be looking over their shoulders.

Also didn't help that he pissed off the fans.

Well as I talked to some of the fans on FB they didn't like Mack but they didn't like Charley even more. They don't want him having the 5 years he wanted. RTR!

They still think they could have hired Saban.

If they don't give CCS enough time to fix this mess I can't see any decent coach with options taking over after he is gone.

Absolutely! It will take more than a year and 2 games to clean up the mess at Texas. Don't know of CCS is the right guy, but they need to give him time.

Yep.  Even if he is not the right guy, they have to give him time to prove it or the next guy will not want to jump into that mess, unless his ego is larger than his brain.

Thanks, 2.

I think that would look appropriate on a tiger's head, too.

Read this fascinating article about what Mack Brown left for Strong.

Quote
Let's look at the offensive line. Why are there two true freshmen starting? Because a lot of the highly-rated guys that Brown recruited like Curtis Riser, Darius James, Rami Hammad, Desmond Harrison, and Camrhon Hughes all flamed out. That's completely on Brown, especially after he and his staff inexplicably decided that the program didn't really need to take any offensive linemen in the 2013 class.

They should at least give him a year to get his recruiting system in place and then 4 more years for that first "real" recruiting class to work their way up to seniors, assuming he is making progress and showing improvement by the 3rd year.

This is the revealing part of the article.

Quote
Let's look at the 2013 recruiting class. Filled with decommitments that led the thin-skinned Brown to ban commits from taking other visits, the class featured only 15 signees and two years later, seven of them are gone due to injuries, dismissals, or transfers. Whose fault was it that many of them couldn't follow the five simple core values set forth by Strong? It certainly isn't Strong's fault. It's not Strong's fault that so many recruits saw a sinking ship in Austin and didn't want to go down with it.

And, finally, let's talk about what Brown inherited when he arrived in Austin. There was a plucky freshman quarterback by the name of Major Applewhite. There was a dreadlocked running back named Ricky Williams who had a decent season. There were a couple reasonably talented defensive tackles named Casey Hampton and Shaun Rogers. A young cornerback named Quentin Jammer. An offensive tackle named Leonard Davis.

Here's some of the Texans he either missed on or refused by Mack Brown to offer a scholarship;

Andrew Luck QB  Desperately wanted to go to Texas
RGIII QB  Desperately wanted to go to Texas
Ryan Mallett QB
Johnny Manziel QB  Same as RGIII
Matthew Stafford QB
Jameis Winston QB (not a Texan, but still wow) Winston told ESPN he would have gone to Texas in a second if they had offered him a schools

There is no telling how many prime players from Texas that Mack Brown didn't even recruit like RB's, DE's, LB's, O-Linemen & many others. The man had gotten complacent & lazy, if not totally incompetent.

 Shocked
