Quick oddsmakers have Bama as a 9 point favorite over Michigan State.

Oklahoma is a 2.5 point favorite over Clemson.

ESPN had cameras at three of the schools, watching the player's reaction to the announcement.  (Bama players slept in, so there was Kaylee Hartong all alone.)

When they announced Clemson as #1, there was an eruption of applause.

Crickets with Bama as #2.

A very small smattering of applause with Michigan State as No. 3.  Maybe 2 or 3 players.

Same with OK at #4.

I suspect OK wanted Bama instead of Clemson, as they beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl, and got clobbered by Clemson in their bowl game last year. The opposite with Michigan State, which no doubt hasn't forgotten how Bama embarrassed them, and probably wanted Clemson.

ESPN guys said it was a good matchup for Bama, as Michigan State's style, ground attack, grind it out, patience, plays to Bama's strengths.

Joey Galloway said it was the matchup Michigan State should want also.  They play mostly against power rushing teams, in the trenches, so they won't have to change what they do defensively to play Bama.  It's not like they're playing a HUNH team or something else that they haven't faced.

Remaining top 25 to be released 2 pm CST.  Not relevant for Bama, but important for Bowl matchups.

For example, who goes to the Rose Bowl, Iowa or Ohio State?

Who goes to the Sugar Bowl?

Which of the Group of 5 teams gets into a New Years Bowl.  (Houston)

To me, this is the best possible outcome for Bama, assuming we can come out of the MSU game with no serious injuries.

Let OK and Clem run each other ragged.  We'll be waiting.

In both of the next two games we'll be facing the best QBs we've faced all year.  DBs gotta step it up for serious passing games.

Also, from here on...only one stat matters:  The final numbers on the scoreboard.  No more style points to worry about.
