Too much importance placed on tiebreaker. It should only be used in the case of a tie for first. Nothing more.

So how do you decide who gets 2nd?
You decide a tie for first by the tiebreaker. But if, say, we have a 5 way tie for third, the tiebreaker (as it is now) kicks in. But the big boys count it as:
1
2
3
3
3
3
3
8
9
10

But technically, I cannot discuss this with you until morning since I already said, "goodnight".

Can't be done.  That would cost me a fortune in e-creds.  HTH.

For example, I got 5, 5, and then 7.  (forget the drop the lowest score thing for right now)

Say you got 6, 6, and 7. (I dont know, just making these up)

Then say jamos has 6, 5, and 7.  (again, made up)

Then the standings would be

You = 19
Jamos = 18
me = 17

You are winning. (hypothetical)

The further we get into the season, the fewer ties there will be at the top in the money spots.  There will be a lot of people bunched together in the middle.

See that hump in the middle?  That is you, me, and most everybody else.  See that little blip over at 3?  That is Jamos.  I won't say who that is at -3, but you know who you are.

You'd have to be a pretty crummy picker to get a minus 3 (-3).

I just cobbled together an ad hoc query to see the current over all standings without dropping the lowest 2 scores.  This gives us 3 weeks worth of games.  Eventually we will have 12 weeks worth of games and there will be even more separation.

See that 0.1 % to the right of 145. That is where I roll.

BAMAWV, notice how that deviation you complain about just gave you the edge over the general for 4th place overall right now?

By the end of the season there will be separation at the top and bottom, with the middle all bunched together.  The deviation probably won't come into play in the top spots (or bottom for that matter).
