WTH? Why can't we develop a QB? Another 1 year QB.

Quote
Dakota Prukop, who plans to transfer from Montana State after the fall semester, is on his way to Alabama for an official visit. Prukop confirmed to AL.com that he was on the way to the airport as of 8 p.m. Saturday for an overnight flight. He would be immediately eligible at his school of choice as a graduate transfer.

This is an interesting bit of news to say the least. Prukop has only one year of eligibility remaining. If he is brought in, you'd have to believe that Cooper Bateman's lone start against Ole Miss will be his last in Crimson, as Prukop would almost assuredly be the bridge to Blake Barnett.

Barnett, Hurt and this guy would make for another great QB contest. A yearly event at the Capstone. He will have his hands full. I think Barnett will be our guy next year.

I'm sure the coaching staff knows what they're doing, but this seems odd to me.

You've got to feel good for the athletes that are qualified to do this. Think of this guy though, playing at Montana St this year and now has a chance to play for the 2015 National Champion next year. Even if he enrolls and doesn't get the starting nod, he can still say he play football for Alabama.  Wink

Definatly a head scratcher.

Wild Guess:  Coaches know some of the current QBs are going to be leaving and we actually need and experienced backup QB for next season.  By the time we get to spring ball, we'll know.

But MD has a point.  The history of CNS recruiting and developing QBs is not good, AJ at Bama and Jamarcus Russell at LSU being exceptions.

If this happens look for QB's to start transferring and I would think it could hurt recruiting QB's in the future.

Kiffin is known for developing QB's. If this is true and he's going after this guy, he must not have a lot of confidence in our current stable of QB's. Or, as someone posted, he's looking for a quality second string guy.

It will be interesting how this plays out.

I honestly don't think Bama is his best choice, or fit.  He is a dual threat QB.

Quote
Prukop told Bruce Feldman of FoxSports.com: "Alabama is Alabama. I just have to go check it out. The downside is I don't have two-and-a-half days like I did at Oregon. But Alabama runs the pro-style (offense) and that is also enticing to me.

"I had to choose between going on a visit to Michigan and Alabama, and I was just more curious about Alabama. I had to make a lot of decisions in a matter of an hour and half. In my heart, I feel really good about Oregon. But Alabama is just Alabama."

Excellent point, hadn't thought of that. What happened to Bateman, Morris, Cornwell, & Barnett? We did that bad on recruiting?

 Huh?

Forgot to mention 2016 commit Jalen Hurts & 2017 QB Jake Fromm (from Georgia). I think we will get bit by this.

Hey everybody one thing to keep in mind is CNS usually does things we don't agree or understand but he comes out smelling like a Rose every time. For instance Jake. RTR!

Who questioned Saban about Jake Coker?

MD I think I was one that wondered why? I think I thought how in one year can he learn this system well enough to become the starting QB? RTR!

I doubt a transfer QB could learn the system at Bama in time to start the next fall, but he might be a good addition to the scout team.

So he's going to pick today.  My money is on him choosing to be a duck.
