--Saban says the energy and focus seemed to be good in the first bowl practice. He said it's too early to tell where they are at but he was pleased with the team's intensity.

--Saban says no players held out of practice today or injured headed into the bowl game.

--Saban says Connor Cook might be the best quarterback Alabama has faced all season. He thinks Michigan State is a "very, very good team" and that it's won a lot of games in the fourth quarter.

--Saban says Jeremy Pruitt isn't allowed to coach but can recruit. Pruitt can watch practice and observe but can't coach players. He thinks he's in the learning mode right now. He thinks Pruitt did a good job at Georgia.

--He says it was a no brainer to bring Pruitt back.
