The family — Jacobs has four siblings — bounced around, living in cars and hotels.
“We’d try to eat breakfast at the hotel and then run, take everybody to school,” Marty said. “And then I’ve got to make it to work. It was crazy. But we did it.”
By the time he was in the seventh grade, things stabilized. Through it all, he said he learned a lot by watching his father as a single dad. He grew up fast, he said.
This kid is a role model for his community. I'm glad we got him.
