I thought Lacey was the better running back today. He seems to have outgrown his fumbilitis disease and is becoming a very good running back. I really like his running style.

I think so too.  I was perplexed by TR today.  I need to watch the game again and see what the problem was.

I don't think he hit a hole clean all afternoon, he seemed to be running up somebody's back each time. Lacey is faster than I first thought of him but when he runs the ball he seems to plant his feet versus dancing around which generates all that power that he has. This young man can be very special before this season is over.

I suspect the difference we all saw to be largely attributed to KSU's defensive gameplan.  Everybody was watching 3.

I hope that is the case.  That thought did occur to me during the game.  Maybe once the passing game takes off 3 will get on track.  He did have some nice plays on some short passes if I remember correctly.

I was at the game and was thinking Lacey had a better game. The O-line was also was not blocking like I was hoping. KSU D-line were crashing the gaps on each play. Either right or left. Bama's O-line looked slow at times. With 17 seconds left in the 1st half and the refs reviewed Lacey's run. Lacey had received a bad cut on his forehead from that play and the doctors took him to locker to work on him before the half.

Kent State's DL wasn't bad, folks.  They didn't have the depth and we wore them down more than we would an SEC team, but their first unit would probably be close to a mid-grade SEC unit.  They were ranked 10th in the nation in yardage allowed last year.

They are as good as Georgia.  Wink

I heard that stat, but was skeptical that it carried any weight.  If they are playing other Kent State like teams all year, then it would not be too difficult to rack up a top 10 defense from a stats point of view.  But they probably wouldn't be any where near a top 10 D if they played in the SEC every week.  But it is a valid point.  We will know more after next week maybe.

I was impressed with the KSU defense; not much by our OL.  Roosevelt Nix is a PLAYER, and has a future in the NFL. Click here for link

TR seemed to be bottled up all day.  Has he lost a step?  I hope it was KSU's success against him, not something about him.  I kept wondering if TR has bulked up too much.  That happened to Deuce McAllister (Ole Miss) his senior season.  DM got huge, but lost his flexibility and lost a step in quickness.  That was corrected in the Saints' weight program.

^This. You could see the intensity with the KSU defense every time TR was in the game. They stacked the box and shot the gaps really well.

Recall that TR was wearing a wrap on his ankle all fall?  Maybe it was enough to slow him just a bit.

Chech - Trent hasn't really gained any size since he arrived, I don't think.  That was one goal of his S&C program immediately on arrival, not to gain any size and lose agility.  The coaches agreed he was plenty big coming out of HS.  They have not allowed him to increase his max weights on lifts.

Also, I believe the wrap was on his hammy.  I also wonder if maybe it's not bothering his burst a little.

It still took 3 to 5 KSU defenders to bring him down.

Well I missed again big time. I had figured TR at 202 yds. Look for PSU to fill the gaps and dare AJ to throw the football. RTR!
