I usually keep ESPN.com>scores>boxscore open during the games. They showed BATR with 67 yds and 5.4 ypc at the end of the game. It has now been edited to 37yds rushing. Does anyone know why the confusion? This is important to me because I chose 67yds and made a sideline call to CNS to pull him at 67 so I would win the poll (tiebreaker, if necessary).

Yeah, I saw that too.  During the game I posted that he had 65 yards (or so).  WTH?  Maybe he loses yards each time he's booed.

Glad someone else saw that. Even the ESPN scores crawler had BATR with 65 yds. Huh?

I found the evidence that saves our credibility.  It's the page in the KSU in-game thread where I posted the yardage. Click here for link

Betting against the line means that the Las  Vegas oddsmakers put a point amount on a game and you pick with the the favored team winning by more than the points.  For example, assume the line is Bama wins by 10 against Penn State.  If you pick Bama, you are saying that Bama wins by more than 10 points.  If you pick Penn State, you say that Penn State either wins or loses by less than 10.  If the final result is exactly 10 points, then it is considered a tie for purposes of your pick.  This is how betting is done in Vegas.

The deviation listed is from the tie breaker -- how many yards would TR rush.  The number is how many yards each person was off from the 37 he actually rushed.

Thanks, CP. I still feel like a moron, but at least I learned something.

As you should.

I am going to have to razz you here.  You are the first adult male football fan I have ever met that doesnt have a basic understanding of vegas odds.   I am pretty sure I understood the line around the age of 7 and I dont think that is special or abnormal.

Ok, I'm done, love ya big guy.  Smiley

Firsty of all, nobody in family was ever into betting lines, so I never learned such growing up. Second, I don't bet (nothing against it per se, just can't afford to), so never saw much of a reason to learn it. I guess I must apologize for not being a man and being so stupid.

Dont take it so hard.  Ignorance does not equal stupidity.  I think you will enjoy learning about the vegas odds and how they move and the over/under's.

You will also be impressed at how often vegas gets it right on the nose.

Sorry general. Not trying to sound so annoyed. I guess I just get a little embarassed some times about things I don't know that I probably should, such as car repair, home repairs, things like that. Please accept my apologies for being defensive. ::Raise a beer glass::

I can identify with you some there, cc.  My Dad was never into hunting and fishing or such things, so I never learned anything about those growing up.  When the subjects come up around a group of guys I often feel a little embarrassed.

[soapbox] Nothing embarrassing about not having a habit/obsession of taking enjoyment in the killing another living thing.  Particularly a herbivore mammal from the top of a tree covered with fake pee and carrying a high power rifle. [/soapbox]
