"I could be like those other coaches," Spurrier told reporters after the game. "The coach at Notre Dame said it was a very close competition and this guy is our quarterback for the year. I didn't say (Shaw) was our quarterback for the year, I just said he would start the first game.

"When you say you're going to do something, you're supposed to do it, aren't you?"

I can't help but like Spurrier. No one can say they expected him to name Garcia the QB for the entire year. He benched Danny Werful the year he won the Heisman.

I have never liked Steve Superior..he was  a smart-*ss in college and has not improved any. Even the die hard fans here in SC don't relay like him..he's like the crazy uncle at a family reunion
everyone just tolerates shim.

The truth about Spurrier is not surprising.  He was Garcia in college.  He was the crazy, wild-party guy at Florida.  That's why this is so nuts and so funny.  He probably loves Garcia (like a father).
