Bama will be celebrating the 20th year of their program this weekend and a large number of their past players will on hand as they host the Wildcats of Kentucky in a 3 game series. The ladies will have their hands full as the Lady Cats boast a 38-9 record and are working very hard to earn a regional playoff at their stadium as Bama is trying to do at the Rhoads House. The teams are on the home stretch of their season now so wins are a must.

Bama loses 3-2. It was one of those games where home plate seemed to jumping around for the umpire. The big play that hurt though was a no call on what seemed to a player interference play at second base that the ump failed to call the runner out and she then ended up being the winning run on a bloop hit into short right field that Chandler Dare had a glove on but could finish the catch.

Sad  I'll bet the next game won't be left to chance or bad calls.  Roll Tide!!

Kentucky has a good team and should have a good chance of making it to Oklahoma City again. Bama has been their worst enemy of late as their bats just aren't there in the clutch and too many runners have been left on base. I can't be too hard on the batters last night though as they hit the ball really hard but right at someone and the Kentucky players made good plays on them. Hopefully the plate umpire will have a better strike zone today as the one last night didn't give Littlejohn much and it cost us dearly in the end. I thought Osorio looked like the old Osorio when she came in to pitch and so did Kentucky, they couldn't do much with her.

Today is a new day though and the stadium should be packed, Bama needs the next two games big time for post season tournament reasons. RTR!!!

Bama rebounds with a 7-1 win and it didn't come easy as Bama scored 5 runs in the 6th that included a 3 run homer from Leona Lafaele and a 2 run single by Chandler Dare to seal the win. Alexis Osorio pitched a whale of a game, maybe her best game of the year as she shut down the big bats of the Wildcats. She held them to one hit and no runs until the sixth inning before giving up three hits and their only run. She looked a little gassed in the last 2 innings but did finish the game.

Tomorrow is the rubber game of the series and I look for another big crowd as we had today.

Hope the plate today isn't 'jumping around' like it was Friday!  Enjoy it, J.
