Everyone's greed holds everyone hostage. How fitting.
The SEC and Texas A&M want each other, but the SEC refuses to be exposed to a lawsuit. Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas -- and perhaps more -- refuse to waive their right to sue, worried about Oklahoma leaving and the Big 12's inevitable implosion created because Texas lives by its own rules.
"We are being held hostage right now," Texas A&M President R. Bowden Loftin told The Associated Press. "Essentially, we're being told that you must stay here against your will and we think that really flies in the face of what makes us Americans for example and makes us free people."
A&M pulling out the
freedom card. Nice try. Lawyers care little about that.
