Outgoing Alabama star Jonathan Allen wins another award

JA had a terrific senior season. In addition to the awards mentioned below he was First Team All-American, All-SEC and permanent team captain. He is one of the most decorated defensive players ever... not just at Alabama. He made the right choice to come back for his season season. A great season to cap off a very good career that included three SEC Championships, Three playoff appearances and a National Championship. Alabama went 51-6 with him suited up in an Alabama uniform.

It's Allen's fourth national award. He also won two national defensive player of the year awards, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Chuck Bednarik Award, in addition to the Ted Hendricks Trophy, which is presented to the nation's top defensive end.

I was not very familiar with the Lombardi Award so I looked it up.

The Award was initiated by the Rotary Club in 1970 shortly after the death of Vince Lombardi to cancer.
 
The Rotary Lombardi Award goes annually to a college football player who demonstrates outstanding performance and skill in offensive or defensive positions and best exemplifies the discipline, virtue and wisdom that defined Vincent Lombardi's exceptional brand of leadership.
