We have not had a good big man since he left.

He has a good game. He can rebound, score in the paint and has a nice mid-range jump shot. He can also hit free throws.

Bingo! Plus, Grant tried to run him off. He was a holdover from Gottfried if I remember right. He has worked hard to become a better player. He was not drafted but was playing in the D-League and just kept improving. Now he's a starter in the NBA. If he can have  seasons like this past one, he will get a huge contract next time.
