Ray and fellow highly-ranked freshman defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis will both be in the mix for immediate playing time along the Crimson Tide defensive line.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound LaBryan Ray is the highest-ranked of Alabama's summer enrollees, rated as the No. 1 strong-side defensive end and No. 26 overall prospect in this year's recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Two of Ray's biggest current strengths, according to Rinks, are his wingspan and how advanced he is from a technique standpoint.
