Waiting for BB, I'm sitting here watching Lane Kiffin's FAU Owls v Akron.

It reminds me of how much I hated Kiffin's offense.  It looks similar to what he did at Bama, except without Saban telling him to cut back on the dink and dunk.  The players are like they are on stimulants, hiking the ball maybe 10-14 seconds after the prior play.

And more than 1/2 the plays on the first drive were bubble screens.  

Ultimately the players were in so much of a hurry that, although they made it across the field, they stalled out.  Kicker missed a 45 yd FG attempt.

Akron is far from talented, but runs a more traditional offense.  FAU isn't stopping them, now down to the 9 yard line.

I almost took Akron and the points, but it looks like I was listening to Greg McElroy and took FAU instead.

Maybe their strategy is to wear out the other defense running so many plays.  

And did I mention how much I hate hearing, "bend but don't break defense."  

Akron offense also stalls and misses the FG attempt.

After two drives into scoring range.

Kiffin rolls the dice.

Goes for it on 4th down near midfield, makes it.

Wicked targeting by FAU Safety.

I thought they could use this video to show what targeting is, but wow, reversed on review.  Defensive player intentionally put a cheap shot on defenseless receiver.  Personal foul penalty is upheld, but they said no targeting.  I've seen much less called targeting.  

After personal foul penalty, FAU gets another PF penalty on the next play.  First and goal Akron

Buster Brown Terry Bowden doesn't roll the dice, settles for a FG.

I guess I swapped to FAU because the game is in Boca Raton.  It's a home game for FAU.  Those kids from Akron are going to melt in the heat.

Buster Brown Terry Bowden is grey now, which a quite a few extra pounds.

For the second time this game, Kiffin goes for it 4th and goal, on the 3 yd line, and they make it with a QB run.

Terry Bowden Buster Brown better check his shoes and start going for it if Akron is going to have any chance.

Aha, I just remembered, I picked FAU because Terry Bowden Buster Brown coaches Akron.

Interesting interview with Kiffin at halftime. Seemed pretty arrogant. Still pulling for him though, he was one of ours. FAU happy with him. Just gave him a contract extension through 2027.
