The Mexican government is to blame for this onslaught of illegals in the United States. Our federal government will not do anything, particularly this regime which does not see illegal immigrants but unregistered democrats.

The economy has pushed state budgets to the brink. So if they do not act to stem the flow of illegals, they face massive budget deficits. No longer can they wait for our federal government to act. The conservative states will enact legislation to make it difficult for immigrants to live. They will migrate to less conservative (blue) states. The blue states will coddle them until the money dries up and huge dificits are realized. Then the bankrupt blue states  will run to Washington, to force the red states to pay their share.  You see where I'm going here.

The Mexican government is corrupt. Their own leaders live in fear.  But there lies the problem.

But anyone with half a heart should understand the plight of people willing to travel a thousand miles from home just for the chance to work hard to feed their families. Haters like Ricky023 add nothing but bigotry to the conversation by calling them deadbeats and flag burners.

I agree with Ricky023!!! What's wrong with you WV? Just because you won the lucky lottery of life, doesn't mean others don't struggle!

Exactly what are you saying?  It's okay to have 12 million or more illegals in our country draining resources (money & services) from our medical services, schools, police services, welfare, not to mention  the jobs they are taking from our citizens? It's not our fault they live in corrupt countries and its sure not our responsibility to try and "fix it" by letting them live here and take advantage of our country. Why can't they stay in their country and try to fix the problem?

Yep I agree with 100% of what you said. Seal our borders, then offer help to the Mexican govt. to get their house in order. That won't happen any time soon, so the states are forced to defend themselves. Arizona first, now Alabama. But the symptoms won't go away until the real problems are dealt with.  In the meantime, hating these poor, hard working people is wrong. They are caught in the middle and just want the chance to work,-- I admire that.

If I were born in Mexico, I would sneak across the border and come live here if I had the opportunity, especially if I knew the U.S. federal government was going to look the other way while I did it.  Can anybody honestly say that they would not?  So I can't blame any of those guys who did just that.

Every single one of those illegals that are here working are ultimately being hired by somebody here in the U.S.  These illegals are being taken advantage of by U.S. businesses that want to pay less than minimum wage and not have to pay for any benefits or the employer's portion of Social Security.  But somehow it is the illegal's fault for coming here?  I can't blame them at all for coming here.

But there is plenty of blame to go around.  Some of it is on the federal government for a failed immigration policy (across several administrations) and the rest is on the businesses and others who hire the illegal workers and give them a reason to come here.  The whole idea of a minimum wage is flawed as well.  Some politician in Washington should not be telling a local business how much they have to pay somebody to sweep the floor.  If 5 guys want the job, the business can probably find someone to do it for less money.  If no one wants to do it at all, then the business will have to offer more money.  And while I am at it, this whole idea of health insurance being a job benefit is wrong too.  Your car insurance is not a job benefit, and look how much better that works.

This is a lightning rod issue.  If we are going to discuss it here, let's stick to facts and logic and stay away from personal attacks.

Bingo on the elimination of the minimum wage, SC. There is a healthy start. As to the businesses that hire them, the reason GWB looked the other way is so you don't pay $8.00 for a grapefruit.

When I pull onto a well site and see a mexican crew, I do a little victory dance in my head. Communications will be a little hard (usually the head guy speaks english well and interprets for the rest), but these guys do a great job. They work hard and are polite and punctual. Oil field crews ALL work hard,-- the Mexicans are a little better.

Example: I always fill a large cooler full of pops for the roughnecks to help themselves. The American crew will walk down to my truck 3 or 4 times a shift and drink one. The Mexicans come 1 time, maybe 2 in 12 hours and they send one guy down to get them for everyone. He runs from the rig to my truck.

How about this: Everytime a hard working Mexican crosses our border, we send a New York crackhead or a hillybilly 3rd generation welfare bum, down to Mexico. I'm willing to bet that within a month or two, Mexico will build the fence for us.

Laughing

I like that trade.

It is true that a lot of these guys are here to work on farms, which ultimately lowers the price of food.  But think about this:  if the government didn't pay farmers to leave their fields unplanted, them maybe that grapefruit still wouldn't cost $8 even when picked by a 3rd generation hillbilly bum.

I'm starting to see a trend here... the federal government is incompetent in almost everything they take on.  So they should stop doing stuff that isn't absolutely necessary for them to do and let the state and local folks handle it.  Ironically, border security and immigration is one of the few areas that should fall to the feds to solve, they just refuse to do it.  JMHO.

I am sorry BAMAWV for implying I was hating. NO SIR I am not. I don't have the choice to hate. What I do have in mind is the Bible teaches us that we have to obey mans' law whether we like it or not. If we then should have to follow our laws shouldn't everybody or maybe I am wrong? I don't HATE anybody I do however PRAY on my knees every night that GOD would Bless us all even AlQueada. I hope this helps if not I would love the opportunity to sit down with you and have lunch and talk this over. Please never think that I hate you or any other people. Again, that is not my choice! God Bless! RTR!

It seems to be working. The Decatur paper reported that 60 hispanic kids withdrew from school Thursday and Friday. Many more were absent. They may or may not come back.

There are welcome to stay. Their parents just need to get legal status and obey all laws.
