In the SEC, things are clear as mud about other teams in the conference. The only 2 "for real teams" in the nation are Bama and Ohio State, everyone else is a conundram. In the SEC, is LSU real, I don't think so but they're looking good, especially on defense. Auburn is a paradox, as usual. Offense is looking stale & jumbled up. South Carolina was totally overrated and I have never been impressed with Will Muschamp.

I still have some doubts about Georgia since they were hit so hard by losing guys like R. Smith, Michel, Chubb and others. They have talent and the state is a hotbed of talent so we will see. Florida is still looking for an identity and an offense. Mullen is in his first year so he needs 3 more years to rebuild. Again, the state is loaded with talent. Pruitt has a rough row to hoe at UT. The state has a bare minimum of talent and has had some real knuckle headed coaches the last 10 years.

I have never been impressed with Jimbo Fisher, not at FSU and not at Texas A&M now. A&M fans think he will lead them to the promised land and the school is doing some major upgrades to the tune of $195 mil. Texas is loaded with talent but Jimbo just doesn't seem to be a grinder in recruiting. Arkansas seems hopeless right now. I don't know what to make of Kentucky, either, but Missouri is overrated.

I think the top four teams in the country right now are Bama, Georgia, tOSU and Oklahoma.

Clemson looks about the same as last year.  While they should be able to run through their ACC schedule and make the playoffs, I don't see them beating one of the above teams.  They barely beat the Aggies in Jimbo's first year there.

Verdict is still out for me on Jimbo and the Aggies.  They do look much improved from Sumlin's coaching days.  The players play tougher, and their system seems better suited for the SEC grind.

Good post. You have been missed. Glad to see you back.

I understand your doubt with UGA but I think are are a contender. They lost a lot but they have recruited well. It looks to me like they are not rebuilding but reloading this year. Kirby is doing an excellent job.

A&M is getting a lot of attention due to a close loss at home to Clemson. Vegas is not fooled by A&M. I saw last night we opened as a 4 TD favorite over them.

Auburn still concerns me. They should have beat LSU. They blew a second half 10 point lead. They will be one of our toughest games.

LSU has nice wins over Miami and at Auburn but I still have doubts about them and their coach.

We are only one into the conference season. We will find out more about ourself in the coming weeks.

Yes, Bama opened as a 27 point favorite over the Aggies.  Click here for link

Current line is 24 1/2 points.  Click here for link

Welcome back MD. Hope all is well. Thought you might have been sick or something. The post was absolutely grand.
I think you are dead on with tOSU and maybe Alabama. I am beginning to wonder if we are as good as it seems or the opponents are really bad. I hoping we are that good. One thing that really worries me though is our depth. It seems we may fall off a good bit if we have injuries. The kicking I think is coming along but we still need that 100% XP kicker and FG kicker that doesn't have any worries from inside 45 yards.
Now with you back I am ready for those long hard discussions. Well done my friend. RTR!

I am totally unimpressed with Miami and which Auburn did LSU beat? The one that might go 11-1/10-2 or the one that goes 8-4? Auburn has been the most inconsistent team in the SEC for 60 years, at least. They might go 7-5 one season, go 10-2 the next, 8-4, 11-1, 7-5 and so on. I'm looking forward to the Miss. State/Kentucky game. Very interesting match up. Can UT somehow beat Florida?

I think LSU beat the Auburn team that gets hyped at the beginning of the season but then under performs.  They do seem to have talent and potential, but the player transfers tell a different story.

MSt v KY will be interesting.  That 10 1/2 point spread (thank SC for the extra 1/2 point) makes picking a challenge.  Kentucky finally beat Florida -- just how good are they this year?  (And what is Florida?)  I think it's anyone's guess at this point.

I don't have much confidence in TN after getting blown out by WV, but both TN and FL are in their first season with a new HC, and there will be growing pains.

It was the Auburn team that is headed for a 98 to nothing beat down.  At least 49 to nothing by half time.  Next year the Gus bus will roll into the SECN studios along side Cheese Dip.  HTH.

It was 10 1/2 when I posted it.  Down to 9 now according to ESPN.  I'm not sure where they get their numbers from.

I think auburn is one of those teams that plays best when they are not suppose to. Like playing us and pulling a fluke out of their hat. RTR!

No such luck for Barn. They would owe Gus $42 mil. Remember, he makes $7 mil a year for 7 years, this is year one. I think it's hilarious.

I don't know where ESPN gets their point spreads either.  I haven't seen any 9 point line on the MSt v KY game.
